ES....No.
There is not a bigger fan of the Taylor Guitar Company than I. I currently own three Taylors and have bought and sold many more. I love my GS Mini and really wanted the ES Go to be an easy, quality fix to the amplification needs of my Mini. It looks like such a promising solution. But alas, it is not.
First, the pros: installation is a breeze. I had the ES Go installed in less than 15 minutes. So it is very easy to install and without a battery, it is easy to maintain. It is unobtrusive in the sound hole and after a few minutes, you forget that it's there. Kudos to Taylor for coming up with this installation system.
Next, the cons: it doesn't sound good. That's a pretty major flaw considering that this unit is designed for re-presenting acoustic sound through an amp or PA. Beware that this system is magnetic and therefore produces a 60 cycle hum in many (if not most) environments. At my home studio, in my Marshall AS50D acoustic amp, the hum was faint,...

Great pickup IF you do one thing...
I bought the ES-Go and wasn't terribly impressed with it at first because of the hum. I thought about selling it, and getting another pickup, but figured I would call Taylor Customer Service first and see what they had to say. For free they sent me a grounding wire, which one end sticks underneath the end pins, and the other end connects to the wiring on the jack. The hum was then gone, and now I'm pleased with it.
It would've been best if Taylor sent the wire in the first place but that would somewhat do away with the simplistic installation. So hopefully they will revise the ES-go to somehow ground it and eliminate the hum.
Design Flaw - wait for the next version
I purchased a Taylor GS-Mini and the ES-Go pickup. The guitar is fantastic. The pickup is terrible. This is billed as a dual coil humbucker, but it hums like a single coil. After seeing complaints about the hum in many reviews, I called Taylor. Their response is that ANY pickup, humbucker, piezo, or transducer, will hum if the building wiring isn't properly grounded. However, that is not the case. I tested several pickups at my local guitar shop, which, as it happens, is in a building with a bad electrical ground. They had a Taylor GS-Mini on display with the ES-Go already mounted. It buzzed like crazy. Then they pulled a new ES-Go off the shelf and plugged it into the amp (unmounted in the guitar). It also buzzed like crazy, and we noted that the buzz varied greatly depending on the orientation of the pickup. In other words, the humbucking design is a total failure in this pickup. Just to be sure we weren't crazy or there was some other problem in the guitar cable, amp,...
